Nice to know that you and your friends are planning to visit Kashmir and of course you all will be welcomed to Kashmir.
And i am sure i shall be able to to help you guys out in finding houseboats and to brief you about Kashmir, you don't worry. but i need to confirm which kind of house boat you need. we have all kind's of houseboats in Kashmir like luxurious and standard.I need to know which kind of houseboat you will require so, i can accordingly confirm the rates for the same.
i don't have a big house to accommodate all of you i have only 2 extra rooms available at home .. so if you guys like to stay with us you guys will be pleased by family ..
we have many pleasant places wherein you guys will get good food, but very limited coffee shops i believe we have only three good coffee shops in Kashmir. so you will find it interesting here . i am sure
i can guide you how to get to jammu from here as well

Give me some time to make a best plan for you guys so that you should remember the trip whole of ur life. Honestly, 2 days is nothing for kashmir. here is lot of places to visit but u have only three days here is gulmarg,pahalgam,sonamarg,mughal gardens.parimahal.cheshmashai many more places about house boat i can arrange it fr u its prize is 2500 to 3000 deluxe house boat here is bar also about ur coffe tea beer many more plz let me know wn u wil come if u need my help i m here i can arrange everythg fr u from srinagar to jammu u can go by road also by air it is upto u wt u like bye take care

Hey Michelled ,
You have taken a wise decision of visiting Kashmir .Kashmir is called "Paradise on Earth " it truly is a paradise .If you are a nature lover ,you will never want to leave Kashmir .
Srinagar is full of hotels but this season being tourist season , pre booking your hotel will be a wise decision .As you have mentioned that you are interested in staying in a house boat ,so you can either book one on internet or i know this guy called Omar ,his number is 9858784505 , you can use my reference & may get some discounts as well .
Depending on kindoff food you are interested in there are restraunts in & around dal lake area , Lal chowk ( city centre ) .There are good coffee shops Cafe cofee day & one of the best restrns. called Coffee Arabica .If you want cheaper food you can choose Lal chowk area where you can easily find good Indian food .There is Kareems near dal lake & number of cheap India food restraunts .
In Srinagar city we have Mughal gardens : " Nishat park , Shalimar garden , Harwan garden .Shikara Ride in Dal lake .
i personally reccommend you to visit to places called Gulmarg & pahalgam which are 55 & 100 Kilometres away from Srinagar . You can hire taxis for the same .
From Srinagar to Jammu cheapest way at present is by Road . You can hire a full taxi or share a taxi depending upon your number .It may cost you around 5000 + INR .Road to Jammu is a hilly one & may take 8 - 10 hours Maximum to reach jammu . If you don 't like travelling by road you can book flights which may cost you bit higher or may cost you bit lower as well .

1. Where to stay in Śrinagar.
houseboats could be quite expensive ... and srinagar is full of tourists so i suggest you call and find out immediately. One person i know is Rashid (bhai) 9419079174 - he's an elderly person ... he has a rather large boat ... if it's not free you can ask him to suggest something. tell him i gave you the number.
2. Where to eat?
They do serve food on the boats...
Ahdoos, Resisency Road.
Shamiyana, Boulevard (opp Dal Lake)
3. What to do and what to see in Śrinagar?
lots... there are the Mughal gardens, though very touristy they are worth a visit.
you can make a day trip to gulmarg or yusmarg. i suggest you go to Aru a tiny hamlet above pahalgam and spend a night ... there are some lovely treks off Aru.
4. How to get from Śrinagar to Jammu
very easy ... you'll get share taxi's (good SUVs) leaving almost every 10 / 15 minutes from the TRC tourist reception centre. the rates are fixed so no worries.
5. Meeting up for a tea/beer would be also a great experience.

there are alot hotels and house boats in the city (srinagar) you also google the information about them. in case you dont please let me know.
the best area to stay is near Nigeen Lake (part of the Dal Lake and the place is quite cool. if you are interested to stay in some busy and tourist area then Dal Lake near boulvard is best option. both these areas are safe no concern about security etc.

How are u doing.Thanks for your message.so ur looking for a houseboat to stay there.Here in srinagar is high season and almost houseboat and hotels are booked,as i had been working for travels,i know how to do things locally,book on cheap prices,things to see here,eating nice food on good and cheap prices.
Here 1 day u can go for local sightseeing.
2day u can go to pahalgam or gulmarg whatever u like.
u can also go trekking 2 days.here lot of places to visit.
if u book these things from travels that will cost much more.
u can do 1 thing u can write a mail to any travel agency and see what will they write about your tour costs.i can do whatever is in my hands and u can pay here yourself.no advance booking.i am not here for earning money.i am only here to make new and good friends and i can host them.

i will check the prices of houseboat tommorow,hotels will be cheaper then houseboats.
on 1 day u can visit mughal gardens there and can go for a skikara ride.
2th day to pahalgam night stay over there because u can visit a lovely palace from there namely Betaab valley.
3rd day to Gulmarg night stay houseboat or hotel in srinagar.
4th day to sonmarg.u can see glacier there.
from srinagar to jammu u can take a local tavera that cost for per person 800 indian rupees orif u like to book it u cAn get it around 7500 to jammu..
